Reef Crystals, I've used it for 3 years now, before that I used Instant Ocean.
It's inexpensive and usually has pretty consistent params.

I always test and bolster my new salt water anyway before doing a water change.

IO for me. I'd switch to Reef Crystals if I could find it around here, but IO is plentiful and reasonably cheap.

I just switched from Reef Crystals to Coralife based on that thread. Interesting read.

I looked as much as I could around here before deciding on Reef Crystals. it seemed to be the most popular salt and it seems to mix up to a pretty close approximation of what's desired right out of the bucket. seems to be reasonable pricewise also.

Coralife, because i found it mixes clearer, faster, and its the cheapest salt out there.Since i have FOWLR,the calcium/mag levels dont intrest me,but try to emulate reef quality water.Used to use IO,but it began to vary from batch to batch so much,it began to concern me.

reef cr....

Actually- Marine Environment by Aquacraft. :)
Why? its US and locally made in my situation.
defiantly not a cheap salt- but you get what you pay for.
this is why: http://www.aquacraft.net/w0018.html

and my lfs uses it and I feel like acclimating new livestock is much safer if the animals are moved into the same salts that they have been housed in previously.

This salt is designed for a 25 or 50 gallon bag used in full w/ the part 2- resulting in a very uniformed salt. (sorry nano reefers)
for some its not practical or cost effective- I think the investment is worth it- like many things in this hobby.

Seachem reef, I thought it would have been one of the more popular choices with high cal and kh.
any reason it is not used more?

Probably price. people tend to like the bargains and any good salt mix pretty much will do the job for which it was intended. With a fairly level playing field price in the major draw. Im some cases however, IO is an example, so many people use it, and it has been around so long, it is pretty much a standard among salt mixes.

Reef Crystals for me. I was using Instant Ocean but had a lot of algae problems so I switched to Seachem Reef, then came back to what I read most people use... Reef Crystals-no problems so far.
