vodka and bacteria bloom question

I'm starting to get a small bacteria bloom from dosing vodka - the long, white, stringy showing. Aside from the obvious - lower the dosing, is there anything I should do? I'm about to do my normal weekly water change - 10 gallons on a 65 (85 total volume)

Siphon off as much bacteria as you can and lower the dosage and all will be well.

That's not a bacteria bloom..... that's the bacteria growing yes. You will know you have a bloom when your water turns cloudy...

Bloom was I guess a bit overstating it, but it's getting close to one.

That's good to hear - I was planning on using my siphon this time to clear our the main tank when doing the water change - I normally just put my extra pump in the sump and just remove and replace all the water there

I forgot to ask one question - I remember reading when a bloom happens to cut the dose in half and start back from there. I know this isn't a bloom and my memory is a bit cloudy (like my water will soon be:) - should I just back off a ml or 2?

whoa a ml or 2? What size tank and how have you ramped up the dosing?

How much u dosing and how long for?

Looks like a 65gal tank... If true, I probably wouldn't be dosing more than a ml at a time.

Going by the RK Magazine Article you're dosing way to much.

You should be starting at 0.4ML/100 Gallons for the first 3 days, on the 4th Day you double the dose to 0.8ML/100 Gallons. Here's the link for you:
