I'm thinking of using a remote deep sand bed on my 180 FOWLR. I've read of people using a uniseal on the bucket. What are these and how are they used in conjunction with a bulkhead?

Thanks for your help,
Eric

They are used in place of a bulkhead. You basically get the right size depending on the plumbing you are using and drill the appropriate sized hole in the bucket which is slightly larger than the outside diameter of the PVC pipe. Its basically a rubber gasket.

People use them on buckets instead of bulkhead because the rubber allows it to flex rather than clamping a bulkhead down to a round surface which will cause the bucket a lot of stress.

The PVC just gets pushed into the uniseal, there are no other fasteners.

Thank you. If HD or Lowes doesn't carry them I'll have to order from Savko.

What do you use to seal them? - Goop, silicone...?

They don't need sealant ;)

You don't need any additional sealant for a Uniseal.
The best place to order them from is:
