i use a maxi-jet 400 on my reactor, as for media, there is phosban, rowaphos and other equivelent types like ultraphos etc, i personally use rowaphos in my reactor, i fill it 1 quarter full and find that it tumbles just right for me

Should I use recommended dosage OR start off slowly increasing weekly?

MJ 400. Start with half the recommended dosage and work up from there.

I found the MJ 400 at MD, It say's it has ajustable flow rate, How's that work for ya? I would think that is a awsome option.

well good question, i basically started with a few spoon fuls and then added to the amount i use now over a couple months, as the media gets used up a film of algae will appear on the glass every day no matter how often its cleaned and this is a good indication to put new in and increase the amount, we all use different amounts, it depends on how much phos is in you tank, start with a bit and just see how it goes, more algae means more media required, if your glass is fairly clear and in general the tank clean then dont add anymore, just wasting money, as rowaphos is expensive, well it is here, its trial and error, every system is different

Thank's, I remember reading that a slow prosses is required to find out your system's need's. As far as the TUMBLE affect, should all the media be moving, and how do you know if you have too much flow? Would there be foam build up or something of that nature ( Besides the obvious )

Where does the output hose go, Skimmer-Ref-or pump section of my sump?

I have both the MJ400 and the output in my return pump section. You want to draw in the cleanest water possible or the crud will build up and solidify the GFO media. My reactor pumps for the GFO and carbon are the only pumps in my system with sponge filters on them for this reason.

I have mine setup a bit differently. I use an AquaC EV-180 skimmer and have installed a 'Tee' in the Mag 9.5 output line that provides a barb fitting to drive my 2 TLF reactors. The pump has more than enough power to drive both the reactors and the skimmer and it saves yet another pump.

I use a Mini-Jet 606, and use the pellets from Bulk Reef Supply. BRS is the best deal I have fund for good quality media.
I put my drain hoses into a filter sock, because no matter how much I rinse the media(carbon or phosban) there always seems to be a little dust left, so the sock will pick that up.

Dust? Do you mean you rinse the media with RO/DI water before you put it in the reactor, and there's some DUST from the dry/rinsed left over that get's returned? I have 100ml hanging around, maybe a piece of that with a zip tie at the end of the return hose?

My preference is a microjet 404 or a 606 adjustable micro pumps. The 606 is best for really large chambers.
