I was wondering if actinic lights help your corals grow at all? I know most people, including myself, like the look of them, but do they provide any other benefit?

Or perhaps I can ask a different way. I currently have four 36 Watt PC lights on my tank. Would my corals grow better if I was to make these all 10000K, or would a combination of "daylight" and actinic best.

Thanks,
Dave

Nope, aesthetic.....

If it is just aesthetic, then lets say I have 2 bulbs that are 10000K and 2 that are actinic. That means that I really only have 72 Watts of beneficial light, right?

Actually my Pure Actinic (gueiseman) as about half the Par
of my Midday (white) bulbs so from my understanding there
is some benifit.

But it is mostly for looks

This is very interesting. I would love to experiment some more with this. Can anyone recommend a decent light meter to use?

Thanks,
