sorrry, the search isn't working right now.
is this a good skimmer?
I have the jbj 12g nanocube btw.
the lfs sells it for 19.99...sounds too cheap to be good quality...let me know of your experiences with it.
I'm not running any skimmer right now btw
thanks for all the feedback!

it is the biggest rip off in nano reefing history, no exaggeration....absolute trash. mine and most others now reside in landfills. I boycott anything Current USA as a result.

well, there is something to be said for the bubbles...or for not using it as a skimmer but as a cheapo reactor.....but for reliably producing skimmate...no....it is a huge headache....dont just take my word for it....google it....
the thing is famous for being garbage. it either doent skim or the collection cup fills in 5 minutes....
save your money....new euro reef nanos are out....100 bucks.
buy cheap and buy twice.....always remember that.
all that said, watch some random guy come on and say it worked for him....well, theres always 1 in 10. Most reefers will tell you its a POS.
That said, I wish I handn't tossed mine cause I really would shove some purigen in it and submerge it...if someone tonite waved one in my face for 10 bucks, I might just do that.

whats the difference between running purigen in that and running it in the back chamber of a nanocube?

well, probably no difference....I cannot in good faith give you a proper answer...I'm not the best guy to ask because I'm no expert on reactors....
but it would be a purigen reactor....in the same way a bag of phosguard or phosban in the back chamber is not as effective as running a phosban reactor.
Anyway, I read somewhere about a guy taking a fission, modifying it, and turning it into a reactor of some sort...what he ran in it, I cannot recall. I did read this, however:

This is Seachems reply to my question with regards to using Prigen in a Phosban reactor. If anyone is interested
Quote:
Use of Purigen in a reactor format has gained tremendous popularity in the last few months. The problem isn't that it will break down the beads. The only issue is keeping the beads in the reactor - they are very fine. You can avoid issue by making sure you rinse the Purigen well before use. It is a very light media and you can easily rinse away the fine beads that would be of issue in escaping into the tank prior to use. By the way, even if they do make their way into the system they would not do any harm. The beads simply would become part of the sand bed. Many people are now using the Purigen in reactors with great success.

Sapphire Nanoskimmers are the best on the market. Euro-reefs are good but the Sapphires beat them hands down. check them out @
