what skimmers are people running on their 12g tanks?

none. For that matter, i dont run one on my 40 (full reef), or 55 (semi reef). IMO there should be no reason that you have to run a skimmer on a 12g tank. IMO, that would probably be a waste of money. Obviously, it wont hurt, but i've seen many tanks run without any form of skimmer whatsoever, and the smaller the tank, the less you need one. Even if you're running a full sps tank, i've seen plenty of full blown sps tanks w/no skimmer.

I just fail to see why doing a regular water change (doesnt even have to be weekly...i didnt even do my waterchanges bi-weekly, just make it consistent) wont work. If you do all you can think of to lower nutrients and whatnot in the water and make everything cleaner and its still not working, then yes go for it.

No skimmer, just water changes work well.
