How High?

I have a 2x 250 Watt Fixture with 4X 65 Watt PC's and Ice Cap Ballasts , 15k bulbs My tank is 30 " high. How high off the water should the fixture be? Should I add more light?

you could get right up on it... like 6-8". personally i find this to be annoying and in the way of day to day access, so I set mine up around 12" but with that much depth on 250w lights. you COULD get them down closer. its really up to you, you might find some high light SPS a little wanting if its way down on the sand bed.

I don't plan to put anything other than softies on the sand bed. All SPS will be in the Top Half of the tank.
