Stomatopods are not shrimp. They are not even closely related to shrimp. The two lineages diverged at least 400 million years ago. This is one reason that I usually refer to "stomatopods", not mantis shrimp.

LOL im guessing that's Roys pet hate. Mine is "poisonus" instead of venomous. Makes me irrate.

Well, if you want a place to rant and rave then go next door to the invert forum where we are discussing the difference between venom and poison in the blue ring thread.
Badjuju, is your smithii reclusive at all? I keep reading that smithii are shy and stick to their burrow a lot.

he stays close to his burrow but always is popping out to see whats going on. guys at work watch it all the time and cant get enough of it. Funny how something so simple can make people look like deer in headlights.
