Good Afternoon, all, New to this site and wanted to ask for some feedback from the experts:

My wife bought me a nano-cube 24G for my B-day. I am new to the "nano" portion of reefkeeping. I had a very successful 125 reef for 5 years, but that's been a little while. It seems as though the industry has dramatically evolved during my absence. I was convinced by my LFS that a skimmer was not required in nano systems, but after lots of reading I determined this was not the case. I just purchased an AquaEuro Nano skimmer and I'm totally lost on where it is supposed to be placed. I have a closed top system and this was marketed as "specifically made" for the 12 and 24 G nano-cubes. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Well, I don't necessarily disagree with what your local fish store told you. In my opinion, most of the time small tanks (approx. 40 gal and under) do not need a skimmer. Small tanks like this need frequent water changes ( weekly), which is usually enough to keep the tank in good shape without using a skimmer. Furthermore, it is difficult to find a good quality skimmer that fits in the back compartment of these tanks.

I don't know the answer to your question of where to place the skimmer you purchased from another store. I have never used the AquaEuro Nano skimmer so I don't know anything about it. I suggest contacting the place where you purchased the skimmer for help. Or contact the skimmer manufacturer. I am sorry I could not help you better!

head over to the nano forum for some ideas of what people with the same cube are using.
