Hey everyone.. i would like to know if its possible to improve my remora skimmer. I have the regular remora with a rio 1400 pump. before i put down another 250 i dont have on an octo 800s i wanna see if i can improve my skimming with this one.

Is there anything anyone can see wrong if i put an air stone in the reactive chamber. basicly just put an airtube down the neck into the chamber with an airstone? anyone see anything wrong or dont think this is a good/bad idea?

thanks for any thoughts...

I know I have seen that done with the old skilters, but not the remora, anyways have you tried the mj1200 on it? I got better performance with that pump. Also if you clean the neck every other day it will help tremendously. If you try let us know how it works.

Not sure how much air you can really push through an airstone, but it might help. hard to say.

I use an "Urchin" (Remora sump Model) with a Rio HP-6 (350 gph)
It's been in use for over 18 month's now & skim's like CrAzY !!
I had to modify the cup with a drain fitting so I could stop emptying it all the time.

I do recommend that you clean the cup every few day's, & clean the entire unit & pump, about every 4 month's.

I made a small 90* angle of Plexiglass, & use a piece of rubberized foam under it.

The angle fit's into the area of the injector, & with the foam under it it runs DEAD SILENT. some people use a wet paper towel, but that dissolves over time.
