My tunze 9002 nano skimmer stopped working. I pulled out the skimmer cup and i could smell something burnt and fumes came out of the unit. I touched the water in my tank and i got shocked. I removed the skimmer and everything returned to normal. (no more electrical current)
I cleaned it but it would not resum working.

This skimmer is roughly 8 to 9 months old.

Can you render any assistance please?

my email is tom.murphy0@gmail.com

Thank you
Tom

I believe you are in Canada? Your dealer emailed me as well. The pump should be replaced under warranty. My guess is the pump seized up and overheated leading to the PU resin around the motor coil cracking. This is unusual but not impossible. Normally the pump should turn off after an overheat but it may have cycled on and off for a while and then the thermal overload protection failed.

I am located in New Brunswick, Canada. I did contact the Tunze rep for Canada based in Montréal. I will be sending the unit to him as per his request to have it replaced under warranty.

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely
Tom
