I have a brain coral probably some type of Platygyra. About a year ago, I moved it too close to the light and the top part died. I thought in time, the living parts would regrow upward, but that hasnt happened.

Im wondering how to frag the living parts onto some smooth rock or something to have the appearance of a healthy colony in a few months. This is such a cool coral but is currently an eyesore because of the dead patch on top of the colony.

Any suggestions are appreciated

I'd go post on the LPS board, you might get more feedback.

Can't you trim the dead tissue area with a dremmel?
