I fed my purple urchin a piece of nori today and snapped a photo of him in the process of tearing it up.

btw have you checked to make sure that isn't the temperate/cold water urchin? Sure looks just like the ones I see eating ulva at the beach when I go fishing.

It is a temperate urchin, from the North Carolina coast.

I'm setting up a local species tank next month, can't wait.
