I have a standard 90 gallon mixed reef(SPS and some softies), I currently have 5 powerheads, I would like to have only 3 if that is possible.

I would like to keep the 2 6045's and buy one more powerhead, what would be your suggestion, for the third one?

Also with the 3 what would you do for placement and direction of flow for the 3?

Thanks

I would recommend the 6055. Not only will you get the directional flow, you will be able to control the pump with a 7091(single) or 7095(multi) controller, giving you many more options.

As far as placement, you will just have to move them around until you find what works for your tank and aqua scape.

Will the 6055 and 2 6045's be enough flow? I just don't want to have to purchase another pump later, I want to make sure that the third pump I purchase will give me the flow that is needed.
Thanks

I have 2 6105s and a 7095 on my 90 gal SPS tank. I really like this setup with the controllable pumps.

My personal opinion is if you plan to do a good amount of sps you would end up wanting to add 2 6055s.
