why not??? the black one is so dull, and the light i think is too close to the water. Plus im trying to add a 70 watt retro to it without having to add a chiller, hints I needed to raise up the canopy. I can build this and buy a retro for half the cost of a BC29 4.36 kit.

I think you are off to a nice start. Did you do the carving or someone else do it for you? I have given this some thought as I am on my third hood from Oceanic. I don't know why but mine keep warping and not fitting the tank right. I don't have any light upgrads so heat isn't the reason.
Anyway it looks good.:)

why not just get a sunpod or something and be done with the crappy stock hood for good?Buy a sunpod and save the trouble.Just my 2 cents

I think some people are missing the point, its just looks good is all. Better than a square light ( sunpod ) on top of a rounded tank. Does sunpod look bad? no, but I like to make things anyway. Plus wood is so much nicer, and much more relaxing look.
