Looking Good
Be careful of having too much foam or it'll pop up like a basketball held under water .........

Very very clean back wall.

yeah it floated before I trimed most of the foam off. I used a dremmel with a nylon wird brush on it and shaped the foam, work really good but was messy. Ive since added the sand to the foam. Ill get some more pics up, I know how you guys like pics =) . the only problem I see so far is the overflow isnt flowing like id like. Im not sure which baffel i need to modify to get the water level down in the 1st chamber.
pretty cool build..more pics please :)
I see three chambers and two set of baffles.
To lower water level in the first chamber lower the second baffle. However if the last baffle is the same height or higher as the lowered second baffle water level won't drop. To lower water level in the middle chamber (and consequently the first chamber) trim down the last baffle, it determines water height in the middle chamber. Evap determines water level in the last chamber where you'll have the return pump.

I like it. I really like the rock work, the way you made it come out and off the wall. Also very nice work on the overflow.:)
Did you use the weldon the glue the overflow to the glass?

nice job! what is the problem your having with the flow?

as AGU said my water level in the first chamber is a litle too high, Its not quite getting the surface skimming i want , so I need to lower the 2nd and last baffel. and the last one should be a little lower than the 2nd. I think what AGU said is how I should have done it. Mine are the same height sooo. not much overflow. Now i have to figure out how to cut the baffels down without tearing it all apart..
If you have a dremel cut teeth in the baffles or just cut part of it off, just make sure the last baffle is lower than the second baffle. In any case retrofitting the baffles probably won't be pretty. Good thing they're hidden behind the black acrylic.

Oh yes I can see it in the picture. that is definitely what you need to do to resolve the issue.
I really can not think of another way of doing it without tearing it apart. Can you cut the silicone and remove the baffle?

Well I cut the baffels down in the back and it seams to work now,and Agu your right Its not pretty. Ill get a few pics up Im siliconing the rock wall in place now. I should have some sand and water in it in a few days. then the wait begins. the chamber in the back will have some filter floss then carbon bag 1st chamber then live rock cheeto in the second. Im not sure on how Im gonna make a auto top off yet. I think the Maxijet 1200 is too much flow, is there a mod to slow it down or do I add a ball valve to the output? well see after I get it up and running, I think the display area is around 6-7 gallons now

I got a little futher with my build, Im planning on somthing in the first chamber floss? , maybe a sponge?? what do you guys think, Im wanting to fill the second chamber up with live rock and a small heater for the third. Im also thinking of a ramora nano skimmer for the 2nd chamber. LMK what you guys would do..
adding sand and water

Get a Maxijet 900 impeller for the 1200 rather than using a valve. If that's too much flow split the return with lockline.

well its a little more settled today

I think Ill try the MJ900 impeller but after looking at it today Im not sure if it too much flow. I guess Ill get some filter floss for the first chamber or a polishing pad to help clear up the water, right now I just threw in a few sponges to catch some of the bigger stuff and a few live rocks to help get it started

You did an awesome job with the foam! If I didn't already know I would have thought that was dry live rock or something. Can't wait to see it when it starts getting encrusted with coraline algea.

Thanks clam, Theres still a few little places I missed with the sand but hopefully it will not be noticable when stuff starts growing. There is a few builds on here on the foam/rock wall and i just had to try it, I think it turned out well, I just hope my AIO DIY filter works like Id like it to. My main goal is to swap all the stuff from my 45 gal in this one and then upgrade to a 90gal. the 45 I bought used and pieced it together with PC lights , that and the glass is scratched from the previous owners and I cant stand it anymore. I dont have alot of livestock it the 45 so it all should work out nicely

Sorry if these questions have already been asked. I have been thinking about setting up a 10 gallon as well and I am trying to fugure out how to make the filter box. Here are the questions:
- I assume that is a glass tank, but did you use acrylic for the filter panels/baffels? If so, what glue did you use to attach the acrylic to the glass?
- Did you paint the filter panel black? If so, what paint did you use?

yeah its a 11$ glass tank. I used lexan from lowes, and used the 100% silicone for lexan made be GE. I dont know if it will have any effect on water quality?? I just used it.. As for the paint I used the Kryon fusion, here again Im not sure if it will leach anything or hold up. It was what I thought everyone uses. This is more of an experiment for me as I have not done this much DIY before on a tank. Time will tell. I wont break my 45 down until I know its safe to swap everything.. again I dont know how Im gonna tell if anything is leaching and the waters safe?? After I get more live rock for the back chamber and Im done with my cycle I'll add carbon and hopefully if there is anything in the water it will remove it. Correct me if Im wrong guys. Like I said this is my first AIO
