Are the visi therm vth series heaters reliable? I have a vth 100 and vth 200.
They are glass, and old, but I don't know if these are the kind that will overheat or break easily. I found one site that said visi therm glass heaters are ok, but it has been extremely difficult to find info on these.

Is it a bad idea to use these?

I think heaters are cheap enough that replacing them is the wise thing to do

Honestly, the only heater I have ever had issues with are visi therms. Not trying to panic you and maybe you will have great luck with them. But I had two fail, one just constantly seemed to change it's settings. I was very frustrated with the product.

kdblove gave the best advice you can get. They are cheap enough, just buy a new one even you even have a slight question in your mind about them. Others can recommend you a good heater & may have opinions on what to use, personally I use Jager heaters and have been 100% satisfied over the years.
