I have loose electricity in my tank. I'm not sure where it's coming from and I'm sure i've had it before, just not this strong.

I was doing a water change and everything was fine. I stuck my hand into the tank and didn't feel anything, but when i was done i felt a zap into my hand. I've felt it before, but i thought i just had a cut that was hurting because of the salt. any one know how i could remove it? i'm searching wires and will do so afterwards

I shut off all the electricity to the tank, and i thought it was going away, but it felt worst. (i don't have anything to check voltage otherwise i'd use that rather then my hand)

Did you have the lights still on when you unplugged everything?

No, it's night and lights were off.

I found the leak. it was coming from my Rio 800. Thank you.

Is there a better way of testing for it other then sticking my hand into the water and getting tazed?

Yes, use a multimeter. A radio shack guy can most likely walk you through how to use it.

Yes . . . but that takes the fun out of things . . . :) Just kidding. I suppose you can also use one of those grounding probes. That would ensure that one does not get electrocuted by accident.

Yeah, i guess it wouldn't be such a shock when i found the loose electricity.

Thanks for the help and i'll get on one of them. (prolly the multimeter).
Would that also help me find the source?

 Yeah, you're lucky to find a multimeter at radio shack let alone someone who knows how to use it anymore ;)

A multimeter does work well.

Yeah, they don't really know anything about what they sell. I've noticed that in the past few months... but there are some that can help.
