View Full Version : purple death question...

My purple deaths are in a stock bc14, about halfway up, getting good flow, and have totally browned out. Blah.

question; for all those who have this nice coral, what type of lighting/flow do they like? Which, if either, is more important? How long do they usually take to color back up? I want mine to be that purplish-blue color like I have seen in pictures.

Oh yea, i am moving them into a tank that is 4x39W T5's. I will probably put them about halfway up. I know this has probably been discussed here about a million times but some input would help.

Did you try to look from top down? They look brownish from the side :( ..

thats the bummer of PD if you have regular glass tank they are very mediocre but if you have acrylic or starphire they are all that

What makes these so desirable?

why are these better if you have an acrylic tank (i just got a truvu!)? I like em because of the polyp shape, and because they go with my nuclear greens:D . Plus, if i could get them to be super purple, i would like them that much more.

what everyone is trying to say is that you will never get that true purple unless you get acrylic or starphire its just the way the glass is it doesnt let the true colors out......

Mine dont really fully open, they are always kinda folded, i like this about them too. What type of lighting do you have livingcorals? I need to get mine like yours! I just put mine at the bottom of my 40 gallon, and they look better already.

i have noticed that Purple Deaths can b very sensitive... i would reccomend putting them into shade and slowly putting them out into the light... they tend not to like alot of flow either... very low upkeep on them...

they are also very interesting to watch when you spotfeed em
