i need some inspiration for my tank! i love the natural look of having all different types of corals growing all over the tank. also how you manage to keep things in check would be appreciated, eg how you managed to keep your gsp from taking over your tank etc

Here are a few "One Year Anniversary" pics taken a couple weeks ago of my mixed reef. It's definitely a work in progress. I think the trickiest part of keeping a mixed reef is finding spots in your tank with low flow for the LPS. In my tank, I keep the softies on the right side of the tank. I do have a purple candycane colony in the top left, but I plan to move it to the right side sometime.

As you can see, I have two mounds of rocks with a channel in the middle. On the sandbed between the two mounds, I have a GSP rock. For some reason, they've retracted and haven't fully extended for about 2 months now. But I purposely keep them isolated on a rock and on the sandbed so that when they outgrow the rock, it is easy to frag.
