Could you please give me a piece of advice if it is possible to use Chemi-clean in (deltec) fluidized reactor?

Thanks a lot in advance

ok sorry it took so long to get back to you, ive had my hands in my tank today, providing its not too soft and can crumble easily making dust get into the tank then i see no reason why you cant use it in a reactor, ive never used it myself but know about it and if its half as good as the manufacturer says then it should be ok, somewhere theres an aquarist whos used this stuff and he or she will pop on if they spot this thread and hopefully chip in, if not then its worth a shot i think

I have used Chemipure for years and years. I have never tried to use it outside the mesh bag it comes in however, because it is so fine I would think it would be passed on into your tank. I would just place it in an area of the sump so that water will have to pass through it, or better yet, do as i do and place it in a cannister filter. It may work just fine in a reactor, but have never tried. ( I run 2 TLF reactors - one with GFO, the other with carbon, along with chemipure in a seperate cannister filter - ehiem 2213)

question:

Your title says chemi pure, but your message says chemiclean. Which is it?

From what i can tell this product is basically carbon with some resins in it.The carbon lasts about 3 weeks and then its no good..they claim it lasts alot longer but i have my doubts if the "resins"do anything. In my opinion you are better off just running carbon in a reactor or if you prefer just get some bulk carbon and some mesh bags and put it under your return or in good flow.

I would not open the Chemipure bag. This media is pretty fine and will end up getting spread through out your aquarium. If you want to put a media into a fluidized bed go with good carbon. I like Black Diamond or ESB brands.

I've used it a few times and it does what it says, but make sure you rinse it really well.

Tip: Don't rinse it in a white tub, very messy
