Can I just put my black diamond carbon on top of my Phosban media in the reactor. I have more than enough flow and enough volume in the Nautilus reactor. I don't want to buy another reactor. My pump is a Maxijet 600 (160 gph) feeding the reactor from my sump.
Thanks

You could but carbon exhausts much quicker than GFO. Would be an expensive endevour.

yep as pats mentioned its not a wise move although of course you could do so, you would need to shut the reactor down every 2 weeks or so to change the carbon and the phos media would get wasted, it can last a couple of months on a fairly clean tank and is usually expensive, i wouldnt advise it myself

I also agree, keep them seperated.
Umm... guys... wouldn't it be possible to keep the two separate WITHIN the reactor? Just keep the carbon on top in its own nylon bag.
Just my 2¢.

The carbon is what you want to remove every two weeks. Meaning you would have to remove the GFO to get to the carbon.
