View Full Version : PVC in-tank framework

In my continuing design plan for my tank, I am going to go bare bottom(just to try it out and for ease of moving when that happens) so I am going to use pvc for frame work. The plan is to have two "trees" on either end of the tank, think coincidently enough, of artificial Christmas tree design. I will have a bird foot at the bottom to support it and two or three layers of limbs set up with each getting shorter on the way up so as to not shade the "limbs" below. I am going to have to find flattish pieces of LR or base rock to cover the trunk and flat pieces to put over the limbs with maybe a bigger flat piece for the bottom layer.
Now that the overall idea is out of the way... the questions:
1. What is an aesthetic way of hiding the PVC and attaching the LR to the PVC? Zip ties(is black safe)? Some kind of epoxy glue?
2. Is there a way to camo the pvc? Some kind of non-toxic paint I could spray them with?
3. Should I cap the pipes or leave them open? Should I drill holes in the pipes or leave them solid?
Thanks
