Heyya folks. So I have a 55 gallon freshwater set up that's been running for 7 years or so and I just noticed that the central brace on top is being torn from the trim so that there is a ~3 inch long open space between the trim and the brace (they're still connected, just no longer right where the brace meets the trim). The central bracing itself is cracking as has nearly separated from the trim. Should I get the water out of there immediately and scrap the tank or is there some way around this? Much obliged for any help.

I would either replace the tank or repair it ASAP! I had a 55 gallon center brace crack when filling it for the first time and the glass bowed and started leaking from the edges. It was the scariest thing I have ever seen in my house. I would have given it about 3 minutes before the whole front pane broke. Luckily I got it emptied immediately.

This is a Perfecto frame w/center brace and fit on my 55g Topfin aquarium. they come black or oak.
I took out 1/3 of the water and put a pipe clamp across the top just snugged up lightly until the frame arrived. You will have to use a rigid knife and run up under the frame to help cut the silicone away. I ended up snapping the old frame away in sections. Run some beads of new silicone and slide the new one on. Not a tough project.
