I am looking for a skimmer for my new 250 gal SPS tank. I was already sold on the 300 but when I went to place my order a few days ago a saw the new beasts. I know that the main difference is the price but performance wise how are they? Will 2 sicces perform as good as one askroll 1500? Any input would be appreciated.

Based on design the Hurricone should waste the Extreme line even the new Octo 350 extreme coming out. The air pull will be close to the same between the two skimmers but the design will give the Hurricone the better advantage. With the extended sloping cone transition, long neck and reliable Askoll 1500 pump are a few things that this skimmer advances over the extreme line. Personally I would go with the askoll pump on a skimmer over sicces any day.

Here is what my 300 pulled from my 240 tank in 4 days:

We'll have to see some shots of the new skimmers and their gunk.

Here in the South, our Iced Tea is clear as a bell. Hmmm, maybe it's the water!
