Hello All! I need some help...

I've read plenty of threads (nitrate factory) about why I shouldn't have a canister filter after the LFS had already sold me on it-

I just got the Coral Life 18w Turbo Twist UV and I'm looking to hook it up to the outflow of the cannister as I have no sump and would like to keep things simple.

I do believe I am dealing with ICH- The Fluval 205 flow is an ideal 110 gph for a potentially nice "kill rate".

Here are my questions

1. There are 4 large vertical sponges in the cannister. Is this where the nitrate build up would take place?

2. If I removed 2 of the 4 sponges would this increase the flow and/or reduce the nitrite build up?

3. Does the Fluval 205 have enough power for this if the only outflow is running through the UV then into the DT?

4. Any other feedback? Just completed a 35% water change...
