I sprung a leek today on my 72 gallon non drilled tank today
so it looks like I'm upgrading sooner than I wanted to.

I'm pricing out a something between a 120 or preferibly a 180.

I will be adding a rubbermaid stock tank as a sump in the basement.

I already have the lights controller etc so all I really
should have to do is get the tank and build up the sump.

The question is what pump should I buy for a return pump?

The top of the tank to the bottom of the sump will be about
8-10 feet; The sump will not be directly under the tank in
the basement but off to the side by about 6-8 feet.

I'm looking for a good reliable pump but not one
with so much flow I get bubbledsin the tank.

I have Tunze pumps for flow so this pump will only be for
running water through the sump and back up to the display tank.

Thank you.

I have been using a Gen-X Mak4 as a basement return for ~ 4 years and it has worked flawlessly. It only uses ~ 100w and has plenty of flow for my setup. It is a strong, reliable, inexpensive pump. The only downside is they are not quiet pumps, but for my application as a basement return, that is not a concern.

The genx Mak4 makes a great basement return pump, low power, decent flow good head. Depending on your plumbing you should get around 800 to 900 gph out of the Mak4. If noise is a concern you can go with the T3 pump would give 550 to 650 or the t4 950 to 1050.
