So ... have an old tank that I'm keeping live rock in until I set up my 135 gallon fowlr tank ... so as I'm looking into the tank I see this thing ... is it a bristle worm? It just kept getting bigger and bigger ... kind of creepy! So should I keep it or next time I see it get rid of it?

not a bristle worm....could be a peanut worm. Maybe someone in the invert section could help id it.

If my wife saw that in my tank she'd have me pull that piece of LR out and nuke it. :eek1:

Peanut worm ... never heard of them ... are they good for the tank or should I try to catch this thing and get rid of it? Thanks for identifying so quickly ... my wife thought it was gross!

do a nice job of picking up detritus within their reach, which is considerable. Wait until about an hour or so after lights out - good and dark for awhile - then have a look around with a red light. don't get freaked out! ;)

Thanks again folks ... looked it up in my Invertebrates book and it does appear to be a peanut worm ... although it says they're about 6" but most are smaller ... went down again last night and it was out again ... took a ruler and this guy is 12" (measured through the glass) and still part of him was in the rock ... is this guy a freak or can they get that big?
