I was wondering how people have their refugiums connected to their Display tanks or sumps. Do most people use pumps or just a siphon with plastic tubing? Mostly interested because I'd think if you use a pump the macroalgae or pods would get chopped up in the pump. Then again i dont know what the inside of most aquarium water pumps look like.. . .
Thanks :)

You need an overflow box (hang-on-back or internal) draining water to your fuge and a pump to return the water to the DT. Pods are too small to get hurt by the pump, many will make it to the DT just fine. Make seperate chambers in your fuge and put the pump and macro algae in seperate chambers, this keeps the algae from getting in the return pump.

There are also HOB refugiums. I have one on my 15, and it has worked out well.
