Here's a picture of my first zoa frag I bought on Sat. I know it's not as pretty as some of the members zoas on here but I love it. Can't wait to get more ...

I remember my first one. Every frag that is alive and open is a pretty frag. Don't ever feel that your achievements aren't great or colorful just because someone else has a better camera than you do. Reefing has nothing to do with photography, but everything to do with captive care, knowledge, sharing, giving back and loving what you have just as you've stated. Congrats on your first and hopefully many more in 2009.

welcome to the addiction.:)
Ditto what MUCHO said.
Collect the stuff you like and what looks good in your tank.

Those are very nice looking zoanthids, regardless of what else is out there. You will find yourself wanting more and more colors as time passes, and the ones you have pictured will fit nicely into a "high end" zoanthid tank. A very nice start!

The green and yellow on the first polyps will get a lot greener and more pronounced orange as they get used to your tank. Also depends on the tank environment and lighting.

THe other ones, the blues and yellows WILL get more pronounced as well.

Yeah I've noticed in the last two days they look so much brighter.

First piece of advice: Join a support group, its an addiction.
Second piece of advice: never follow the crowd. put anything in your tank that you fancy. its your tank and nobody else looks at it as much as you do. I have been a zoa fancier since before they were cool and the nicest one you could get were alien eyes and had I listened to the crowd I would not have my super sweet zoa collection I enjoy every day.

1)HaHa you are so right. I'm already picking up another frag next week. hehe

2) Good advice. As long as the zoas are healthy and happy. lol
