I was thinking of putting one of these in my 70 gallon reef tank. Are these interesting fish? Any comments regarding this. Also what about a fairy wrasse? Any comments on these fish?

Thanks,
Ken

Happy New Year!

Well the exquisate wrasse is a fairy wrasee. There is a very large selection of fairy wrasses available so you may want to look into them. Should work great in your size tank, they generally stay small and peaceful. My personal favorite family of fish.

Will, do you have an exquisite? I have never tried one but they look pretty despite being in the "blue group"

I own an exquisite and it is my absolute favorite fish beside my lineatus.

Hey Steve,

No I don't. I came real close though. There was a beauty of a specimen at an LFS but I decided to save the room for some others that I want more...rhomboids, lineatus, etc.. :) I hear that they are great fish to keep though.

Any aggression issues? I've been looking at an exquisite wrasse as my wrasse of choice (after a balteatus, ofc) but they don't seem to be kept commonly.

I have never kept an exquisite and it is one of the few I have not kept. However, generally, like Will, I prefer others more since the blue group tends to lose the most coloration.

no they are not aggresive and they do very well with other fairy wrasses ,and they are awesome looking . make sure that your tank has lids on it or you will be picking a beautiful dried exquisite wrasse up off your carpet ,they like to jump so tighten up the roof !

I have an exquisite I got from LA which I believe is the African variant. It has more red coloration. It is a great fish. Very active and doesn't bother any of my other wrasses or fish.
