my SW obsession started in the public aquariums, when I would sit and watch the reef displays. When I ended up with an empty 29g, I had two options, I was debating between a pair of cichlids, a group of shell dwelling cichlids, or a SW FOWLER tank. I chose FOWLER, which quickly turned into reef, and then, that summer, I upgraded for the first time.
I chose to have a 20L display and a 29g sump. I stocked the tank quickly with a serpent star, a small toadstool, a frogspawn, a candycane coral and a paly frag. I also had a ocellaris clown. I lost ineterest for a few months, and the tank was severly neglected for a while. then, I found interest again, though the toadstool was already a goner. I added a mate for my clown, added some new zoas, and added 2 birdsnest frags (both of which were lost in the transfer to my new tank).
well, it wasnt long before I wanted to upgrade again. I broused the craigslist ads for tanks, my dad refused a 90g (my first choice) but I found a 75g RR tank and stand for $300. I grabbed it, and that night we drove a half hour each way to pick up our new tank. my dad had some of his friends help and we moved it into the house and started cleaning. that was in may, by late april we had everything we needed, and we started filling it up. we fixed the few leaks we had, and then I ordered my rock, 50lbs dry fiji from marcorocks, and 40lbs cured fiji from PA. added the rock and let it cycle.
