No. Most people recommend at LEAST a 55 gallon for a yellow tang, with a 75 gallon or larger being much more suitable. And you would need a much larger aquarium than a 55 for a blue tang.

Fish choices for smaller aquariums are smaller fish. Such as Ocellaris or Percula clowns (although only 1 or a pair or you will have fighting), small gobies, etc.

Unlike freshwater fish that will stunt (although that is horrible for their health) saltwater fish will continue to grow. Keeping them in too small of a tank for too long will cause them to die.

You may be able to keep a BABY tang in that small of an aquarium for a short period of time, but please, do not purchase one unless you plan on setting up a much larger aquarium in the very near furture.

I agree. There are many other great fish that will be perfect for your 24 gallon tank. Tangs just get too large and swim too much for the space

Liveaquaria has a 'nano' section. It's pretty accurate overall. I thought about recommending that originally, but figured it's better to read about each fish individually and figure things out. the liveaquaria page is a good starting point.

I just thought you might want to take a look at the thread What Tang For My 30Gallon in the Reef Fishes forum under Marine Fish. It will just help give you a better idea of what I mean by your aquarium is too small for Tangs. It's very informative.
