Do you have anything for a CUC at the moment? How long has your tank been up?

For 45 gal tank I would drop in 50 astrea snails, 50 blue leg hermits and maybe a sand sifting star or some nassarian snails

I agree with the above post with the exception of the sand sifting star. Maybe once you tank hits 7-8 months the star would work out, but this soon it might starve since you siad it has only been a couple of months.

50 hermits in a 45 gallon is quite high. One per 10 gallons will generally handle everything you need. Anymore than that and they'll kill each other and snails off quite quickly.

wow... I'm way undestock on cuc on my 120. I only have 5 turbos, 5 astrias, and 8 hermids.

yea I've got probably under 20 snails in my entire 120g SPS reef... It blows my mind when I hear about people adding a few hundred of this or that type of algae eater at a time to their tanks...

29 gal. has 18 nassarius, 25 small ceriths, 15 Florida ceriths, adding chiton and 10 limpets. Very good results. No hermits as I've found them too opportunistic; woodiecrafts is correct that the sandsifting star will starve after a time, and that after it's depleted the helpful benthic life in your sandbed.

I would go against the hermits and turbos, especially if your keeping softies. Both are a constant nuisance knocking corals over, climbing all over them etc.
