Hey Guys,
I'm starting over on a NEW 55 gallon tank.
Just wanted to get your thoughts on the type of fish I should keep.
My other thank is ich infested and a I figure I could use this time to go ahead and set up my bedroom tank and let that cycle while my old tank stays fallow.

Before I get ahead of myself, I'm thinking:

A pair of Clowns
A yellow Tang
A blue spotjaw
And some kind of wrasse

Is this a reasonable number of fish to keep in this? Thanks

sounds good except for the tang. it will outgrow your tank very fast (they need at least 90g)

get some firefish gobies in place of the tang.

2 or 3 Firefish gobies or the same with Blue/Green Chromis would give you a nice little schooling in place of the tang.

cani do a mimic tang or a lemonpeel angel? are the lomn peels REALLY badly UNreef safe? I've been reading up on them. they have the bright yellow color, without being as susceptible to disease as a tang. Basicually, I'm trying to find something yellow that isn't gonna be terribly difficult to keep and wont outgrow too quickly.

I wouldn't trust a lemonpeel in a reef tank. Not sure I would put any tang in a 55. How about a yellow wrasse (yellow coris)? Can take care of your yellow and wrasse requirement. They do require a sand bed to burrow though... and a cover as they can jump.

Ditto for the jawfish.
