Hey folks. Total newb here.

One of my corals is the 4" in diameter brain coral you see on the left side of pic (still getting hang of taking pics like this). It came attached to a large rock-like disc. What's the best thing to do with something like this, pry it off the disc, bury the disc in the sand ? I really just do not like the look of the the disc but love the look of the actual coral. thx.

Partially bury the disk until the coral grows over it.

That favia is going to grow over it really fast over the rock with the right conditions. I'd just leave it alone, maybe put some other smaller rocks around it.

How much light do these need? Reason I ask is I'm thinking about putting it on a rock near the top of the aquarium. I like the look of it when it's down below as I think if it's on top it would look like a stupid crown. Will it get enough flow and light on the bottom?

It will grow over the rock. Plus, that's a nice rock. The rest of the rock in your tank will look just like it eventually if you maintain proper water quality.
