I know not another one your telling your self. But I got this clam from someone that was taking down there tank and they didnt even know. I have gone over pictures and tryed to ID it myself but Im not 100% sure. Its eather a Maxima or a Squamosa. Here are a couple of pictures sorry they are not the best. I only have a cheep point and shoot camera.

Thanks for taking your time to help me out on this.
Hard to tell, there doesnt seem to be any tentacles on the inlet siphon, but you'd see some intricate ones on a squamosa. I'm not sure I'd rule out a crocea, though the scutes do indicate a maxima. Maybe this would help.

Looks like a squami to me, scuts and you can see some small tenticals on the right side of the inlet.

+1, based on mantle shape and typical eye pattern.

I know this one gets me. By the shape of the shell its a squami but when you look at the underside it has the opening of a maxima. I found a site with pictures of empty shells that I was going off of to help me out. But Maybe I just might have to wait this one out to find out for sure. But it looks like the most of you are saying maxima.

the scutes are far to small and tightly spaced to be a squamosa.

if the only hanging point for you is the shell shape, why don't you post a picture from the side and we can see for sure.
there is no doubt in my mind that is a maxima clam.
