I have a 54 gallon reef tank that has been set up now for just over a year. I am having some issues with it and am hoping some of you can help.

#1 I can't get coraline algae to grow. I have tried supplements(Essential Elements and Purple Up) and neither seem to work.

#2 I have these red, tube-looking things growing all over the tank. Pictured below, on the left side of the rock. What the heck are they and should I get rid of them?

#3 While my fish seem to be thriving, my invertabrates (mainly shrimp) don't seem to live very long. I had a banded coral shrimp that did awesome for about 6-8 months, then one morning he was dead. All of my fish are reef friendly, so I'm not sure where all my shrimp are disappearing to.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Bryan try to reattach your photo. Also, what are your parameters?

you will need to post you water parameters!

#1 I can't get Coraline algae to grow

Sounds either calcium deficiency or low lighting.

#2 I have these red, tube-looking things growing all over the tank

sounds like tube worms, need pic though

#3 While my fish seem to be thriving, my invertebrates (mainly shrimp) don't seem to live very long

Invertebrates are more sensitive to temperature salinity and wild swings in water parameters
