I currently have a 750 gallon FOWLR tank and want to purchase a grey smoothhound shark. Does anyone have any leads who stocks them?

There is a retailer in the USA (NJ) called "Shark Aquarium" they will be able to help you. They don't like people phoning them though, so you will have to do business via e-mail.
Be warned, the guy who runs it (George) is a strange person, but people still trade with him because he always comes up with the goods. In fact, he says he can get any speciese of fish from anywhere in the world.

I really want a shark, but don't want it to get that big. Any suggestions?

there are just a few species that are small enough for VERY large home aquariums, but there is no way you can keep a shark from growing and keep it healthy at the same time. they are really "expert only" fish and have some very specific requirements.

these small species are not like the requiem sharks, http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1492655

they are more bottom dwelling, less active species

here is a link to a useful article. some would say the tank sizes in this article are still too small:

I'm sure you have done your research. So I won't say anything, but post pics if you buy one.

rswood1, try calling Tropicorium, in Michigan. They breed sharks. Their web site says they are out right now, but they don't always keep the site up to date. I have dealt with them before, they are very good.

(BTW, my previous post was in answer to marcus.breaux)

aquabid has sharksand rays from Dean at aquatop USA. I've purhased from him before but he doesn't have any small sharks right now. All are over two feet.

if he doesn't, do you know anyone that works for public aquaria? you know they will have the connections for obtaining fish (maybe not little ones) :)

good luck and post pics. Just hope you know how big they get, and they do swim quite a bit.

I checked out the aquatop website. Not sure why he claims to sell Zebra Sharks then uses pictures from MBA aquarium on his site. Also the Starry Smoothound picture on aquabid looks like a stolen picture as well. There are what look like Lesserspotted Catsharks in the picture which he makes no mention of selling on his list. Im not convinced.

I agree Crumbs. That website seems to be all flash and no substance.

I've ordered from him before. I purchased two small batrays. The first was DOA because he didn't pack it with heat packs. The second is doing fine after three month's. He also shipped a hammerhead to a friend of mine which was DOA. We'll see.
