we started a 300 gallon tank, a month ago, we put uncured live rock in the tank about 2 1/2 weeks ago. We also have a 120 gallon tank we started about a year ago which is doing very well. when would it be safe to start removing the rock and fish and coral to the 300 gallon.

thank you

it's safe to transfer if the ammonia and nitrite are zero, if not it's not done cycling yet

Thank you for your help.
R we best to not put anything into the tank yet.
we do want to kill our coral or any fish we move over from the other tank.

again, thank you

I would let it "cook" for awhile monitoring it. To risky right now to transfer.

If there is no rush in moving the inhabitants, let that new tank cycle as long as you can (3-4 months...or longer). It wont hurt anything to slowly add your corals either over that time frame.

But like said above, wait for the ammonia/nitrite readings to bottom out before doing even that.

you should wait at least 2 or 3 months just to be sure your tank is stable

I would do a few nice size water changes out of the 120 right into the 300.

only your levels can tell you when to start moving things over. Every tank is different some take a couple weeks some a couple months
