What is a schooling fish that is aggressive. My friend is getting a 400 gallon tank.

Any ideas?

Are you looking for small or large fish?

Your friend might need a bigger tank though.

Putting together enough Porkfish in a 400g tank to qualify as a shoal of some type would probably entail overcrowding the tank... and that leaves no room for other fish.

BTW, anybody have any clue why a 1.5-2" Porkfish is 70 bucks on LA? They live all along the coast of Florida and the Gulf of Mexico, seems like they'd be cheaper. Licensing?

For small fish you could also try cardinals. For large fish, goatfish could work (but they get really large).

Blue chromis would look awesome and add great color to the tank. Would 20-30 chromis be too many?

Although Chromis are schooling fish, I don't think it's a good idea to get them. ALL the stories I have heard about trying to keep a school of Chromis have been unsuccesful. Usually, the Chromis gang up on a fish one at a time until only 2 are left.

I agree with Karaim. Stay away from multiple chromis.
