I just purchased a phosban reactor this evening, and I was curious about how much Rowa phosphate media should I start out with in the reactor. My tank is a 65 gal reef, with a 35 gal sump. My phosphates are at about .5 ppm. I just want to be sure, because I have heard that removing phosphates too soon can kill coral, and using too much rowa can lower Ph quite a bit.

Thanks for any help,
Rachel

I have a Phosban 150 and I fill it up about half way, maybe a little less than half; I have had no ill effects on the coral.

Rowaphos says 1ml per 1gallon saltwater. 150ml doesn't look like very much in the TLF Phosban Reactor, though. I'm not sure...

Phosban says 150 ml maximum. Start out with 1/2 the recommended dosage for your tank size though and work up over the next media change or two.

Start of slow. Better to use too little compared to too much for the first time ( or couple of times )

Keep an eye on your Alk.
