Hello everyone, just wondering, I have a 75 gallon tall FOWLR tank with an E.T. Puffer. I want to add a Dog face puffer, clown trigger, and a snowflake eel. My question is , what type of butterfly fish can hold his own in a tank like this?

Sorry, but I think the trigger precludes successfully keeping any butterfly.:(

I agree, none of those fish are suitable for a butterfly.

unlesss you are going to upgrade really soon, don't add all those fish to your 75. Dog face puffers get over a foot long, clown triggers really need at least a six foot tank, even the smaller ones (and they get 18-20" as a adults). a 75 just can't handle that bioload, and it's too cramped for fast growing, active fish.

what is an e.t. puffer?

the moray will be fine, and you maybe have room for another one or two REASONABLE sized fish, meaning not more than 5-7 inches, full grown.

Someone in a thread I saw a few days ago on here posted a pic of... can't remember for sure I think it was a porc; Anyways they had named it E.T. Probably what moneymark was referring to.

you think it would be okay with a clown trigger?

I believe any of the Butterfly's of the Tinkeri complex could be kept with that trigger with certain criteria met. First I think the butterfly would have to be established first before the trigger. Also the butterfly would have to be substantially larger than the trigger. Still risky because the colors of the trigger and butterfly are quite similar. Realistically a clown trigger cannot be trusted with almost any fish. If you had a larger tank I would say you could get a group of semilavartus, but that is out of the question in a 75. T

Thanx for the info, I guess the answer is for me to decide if I want butterfly's or triggers.

you really won't be able to keep a clown trigger in that 75 for long. and two puffers (dog face and I assume porc) aren't going to work in that tank either.

so you have another decision to make. are you going to stock your tank with fish you may be able to keep there a year or so, or are you going to stock with fish that can live their lives in the tank?

if you really like the bigger fish, I'd plan to get a bigger tank soon. otherwise, we can help you with a stock list of suitable sized, more or less compatible fish for the 75.

I wouldn't trust a fully grown clown trigger with ANY fish. After the undulated trigger, this is probably the second most aggressive fish.

Some triggers MIGHT work, but you can never be sure with a trigger.

And a 75 gallon is definately too small for any trigger or large puffer.
