Carpet cleaning

Hi all,

I have my reef tank in a room with carpet that I want to have cleaned. What's the safest way to do this with the tank sitting right there? I am concerned about chemicals.

Regular carpet shampoo shouldn't be a problem. You can always open a window while it's drying to keep any perfumes or chemical smells from taking over.

How about steam cleaning?

We've had our carpet steam cleaned professionally with no adverse effect to the tank. I would think the steam to be pure water anyway, even after contact with soap and carpet.
