I'm looking to go 24" squared cube w/ overflow and Starphire on the front and sides. I had settled on glasscages since the price was good and shipping reasonable.

I did a little research first and it turns out people aren't entirely happy with the workmanship of their tanks.

Can someone steer me in a few different directions for custom tanks, I live in the Greensboro, NC area.

thanks

tim

too bad your not in my area.
I have a 2 spare square tanks both 24" wide.
One is 18" high and one is 12" both worked fine for years untill they were broken down and sold too me!

Looks like I might spend the extra dime and go with miraclesinglass.com . Their price is very comparable to glass cages but from what I've read, their quality is outstanding. Only killer is the shipping charge...their getting back to me on that.

If acrylic is a consideration, be sure to check out Envision Acrylics (http://www.envisionacrylics.com/) there workmanship and customer service is second to none.

I would stay away from glasscages.

Good luck

I've seen a few AGE glass tanks and they're top notch IMO.

miracles seems to be a pretty great company. a few of our club members have had bad luck with cages.

cages offers a 90day warranty that they don't uphold. 5 year warranty miracles flew a man down to repair a members 400gal tank in house. within a couple days everything was back up.

you'll have to read through the entire post to get the sense of customer service.

I would pay the shipping!

Actually, by the time you add all reef related options from the Glasscages.com website the prices you get aren't really any better than Miracles or AGE, etc.

This is from the few examples of identical dimensions/options I've compared.

+1

I've seen a few of their rimless tanks in person, and it's got to be the worst craftsmanship I've ever seen.

Not to mention, my friend's tank showed up chipped, and they won't fix it... because of their screwed up shipping policy.

What a joke of a company.

824 for shipping. that sounds kinda high. i ship stuff truck freight all the time. of course never a glass tank though. is there a crating fee or is that included? i could drive quite away for that money.

that price includes shipping, still the same dimensions, it is coming from canada so
i can understand the higher shipping

Coming from Canada that explains the high qoute. Anything that has go through customs is gonna cost. Good luck when you get started.

I've been quoted by several builders and miracles has come in cheaper than everyonee, by almost 200 bucks. Guess I gotta give my money to the great white north vs keeping it local.

I'm bad at google sketchup, but I'm invisional a stand that is about 3 ft tall for the center pier a and 2 ft cubers on either side. All three would have doors and the two ends tops would be capable of lifting up.

from left to right ...

Right - RO Topoff
Center - Sump/Fuge w/ skimmer and Return
Right - Calcium Reactor

Anyone will to do a quick and dirty for me with sketchup ....

thanks

For $824, you could get a passport, drive up, stay a night, drive home for less than half that price. As crazy as it sounds, may want to consider it for a $800+ shipping quote, which is understandable, but still expensive.

In fact, I'm looking into a possible custom tank myself, and may consider doing this.
