Kevin's 200G Build

Hi Everyone-

1st off - let me thank everyone who has been posting to my many posts here. Several years ago - I had a 90 gallon reef tank that I ran succesfully for several years.

Unfortunately - at the absolute worse time - the tank broke- and I successfully saved my stock but gave them to a fellow reefer friend of mine. (long story)

I am now building a 200G reef tank.

Here are the details:

60x26x30 - 3/4" thick acrylic tank
Refugium Sump
Custom built stand
2 x 400W IceCap 20k Radium
EuroReef CS6-1
Quiet One 5000 Pump (In Sump)
5-6" DSB

Some kind of moon light
Some kind of PC white light

And then rocks, fish and corals. Which will be planned out based on a maintenance crew, show fish, and show corals.

On my past 90 - I had a fluidized sand filter- but most people here seem to skip that item. Why?

I have had success with maintaining calcium levels with B-Ionic. Tho - with a 200G- I will probably be using quite a bit. eventually, I will probably upgrade to a calcium reactor.

Phosban is a posibility

UV Sterilizer is also a posibility.

I'd really, really appreciate input from fellow reefers here on the above. Particularly, what's worked and not worked for you.

Are you going to show pictures through the process? This is a big increase from 90g to 200g.

The stand build was an adventure. Learned alot on stand #1 - and am now building a much "squarer" stand 2.0

You can't tell, but the stand top is about 1" wider than the bottom!

Stand 2.0 is on the way - and is much more square.

p.s. Anyone in the phoenix area want a stand that's not quite square? $50 takes it!

Is that Stand shape the shape of the aquarium??? If so it's certainly unique! keep us updated.

p.s. A 'not quite square' stand will be a tough sell. lol

GRIN - yea - but I figure someone with a wood shop can probably do some work on it and get a stand for cheap!
