My SSS just died, I read that they eat all the good stuff in your sand then starve to death. Is this true, & is my sand now dead too? Thanx in advance...Johnnie

yup, true. the sandbed will recover though. most of the stuff in the sand is also in the rocks and will migrate down.

Rick, I (very politely ;) do not agree. SSS dont "starve" to death. I had the same one for over a year and it is still alive & kickin' (now it's in my friend's tank after I added harleys to my main tank). As a matter of fact, it came scooting out every time I fed the tank and ate the left-overs.
