Has anybody tried to run the MSX1a cone externally?
I can't get my pump to quit leaking from around the o ring where it attaches to the volute.
It probly wouldn't matter if it was in sump but definitely leaks too much for running externally.

I'm having the same problem. I have no choice but to run mine external (no room in the sump). Im just wiping the salt off the pump every few days.

I'm starting to think whoever they had make the volutes did not cnc them to tight enough tolerances for external use.
I haven't even been able to use mine because it leaks so bad and also have to run externally because of space.

Is there a gasket in the volute? You guys got any pics I'm curious to see the inside of one of those volutes, been thinking about trying my hand at a diy askoll.

We have become aware of the leaking pump issue and are working feverishly on a solution. The company that mfr'd the volutes (not is or SWC) didn't have the tightest of quality control (to put it mildly), and some volutes run just fine with no leaks while others leak badly. By the end of next week we are hoping to have the issue resolved and will be replacing leaky volutes for the current 1A owners that need to run external.

There is no issue with the performance of the volute when run in sump, only a slight leak when external. So, if you have purchased a 1A you'll need to contact us (if purchased through MS), or SWC (if purchased from them) for info on the replacement volutes.

We apologize for any inconveniences, but we will follow through and get this issue resolved and take care of all customers with an issue with this volute.

We will have some alternate volutes soon. I am hoping within the next 10 days.
