I need a dosing pump to add kalk water. I used an aquamedic before and it broke in a couple months, so i would like to try something new. I know the litermeter is the best, but funds don't allow ffor that right now.

Anyone ever use the Drew's Doser Peristaltic Dosing Pump from Bulk Reef Supply? They are afordable, but i wonder how good they are manufactured. Any recomendations or other input is apreciated, thanks.

i have 2 of them. they said that they are silent, i dont think so. they dont sound like a freight train running thru the room but you cant here a mouse fart if there on either. you can here when they are on. i kept getting air bubbles in the lines until i got some thick i.d. line from work that seems to only let a couple of bubbles in every once in a while. i got them on sale for 20.00 off on black friday so for the price they are the cats a$$. the thing that really sells me on this product is the dosing period on it. 1.6ml every minute, i use this to dose there cal. and alk. over all 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

Thanks 1628mna. They will be in the basement so noise won't be an issue. I just want something that isn't built cheap and will last a while. I apreciate the feedback.

Anyone else?

I am considering one of these for kalkwasser and vinegar as well. I only lose about 1500mL per day in evaporation so it should be perfect if I let it run for the 16 hours that the halide is off. I don't know if it will be able to keep up with the evap on a 75.

I repace all my evap water with kalk water and my tank is a 75 with 40 sump, so i can let you know if it keeps up with evap.

Which one did you get? I see several different options on this pump.

I have one... They do what they are advertised to do. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you need a static pump that doses 1.6ml/hr, they are perfect.
As stated, they are not silent, but mine are only on for about an hour at a time anyway. No biggie.

I ended up cancelling my order and getting the liter meter 3 instead.

Litermeter is a better choice for sure. I would have gotten the Stand alone profilux

How do you figure?
The only advantage that I see with the litermiter is the ability to adjust the rate. For $250 more, I'll pass and just use a $15 digital timer (or my aquacontroller) to adjust my rate. Total investment, under $100.

But if you like flushing your money down the toilet, that's cool too... I can find a lot of other things I could spend $250 on in my reef.

In the first post it is indicated that the pump is going to be used for topping off with kalkwasser. It is not designed for ATO purposes so the Litermeter is clearly the better choice. The Drew's pump will have to run almost continuously to keep up with the evap on a 75g. That information is right from Bulk Reef Supply.

Sorry, I missed that part... I know I came off sounding like a *****, but even then I would've then recommended an aqualifter pump tied to an ATO unit on a timer...

Even cheaper than the Drew's dosing pump
